Expert Center:We were the first to offer robotic prostatectomy in the area and
continue to grow our vast experience. No one in the area can match our experience.
Do not choose a center or physician based on name alone or those with alleged
?special' training in the area. Studies have clearly shown that results are better in
high volume centers and in fact, a recent study suggested that in many hands a open
radical prostatectomy is better than a robotic radical prostatectomy. In 2006, we
were selected as a training site by Intuitive Surgical (the makers of the system). This
designation is reserved for those centers exhibiting a large case volume and
proficiency in the operation. |

Power of Choice: As mentioned elsewhere on this site, our center offers you
multiple options for prostate cancer allowing you to choose what option is best after
all considerations are weighed. Do not be railroaded into a decision at an institution
who cannot offer you the multiple options available for treatment. |

We perform the entire operation:At JPC, we perform your entire operation- start to
finish. In fact, we actually have two robotic trained surgeons perform each operation.
We don not over schedule and perform a maximum of three operations in a day. This
is in contrast to many academic centers who rely extensively on resident trainees or
other assistants with the primary surgeon present for only the ‘key’ portions of the
operation. Often, two operations can be ongoing at once. Obviously, complications
can occur at any stage of the procedure. This is not the case at JPC, we view your
entire operation as the key portion of the procedure and complete it start to finish. As
a corollary to this, we prefer to follow you after the operation as well long term. In this
manner we become a true partner in your care.

We employ advanced techniques:Advanced urinary reconstruction techniques are
possible with the precision of the Davinci system and result in improved urinary control
rates. The surgical robot has also furthered our understanding of the anatomy of the
nerves that control penile erection. Armed with this knowledge, we can perform intricate
nerve sparing surgery. The degree of this nerve sparing often depends on the patient's
cancer. We believe experience is the key factor in nerve sparing surgery. |
